I am a conceptual artist. I work with place, time, image, the body and context as materials. I am a product of the Information Age.

My process is like mixing and sampling. I take fragments from life and media and reorganize and re-contextualize them in a personal way. I am decidedly attracted by newness and its immediate obsolescence. My work appropriates from art, fashion, commercial advertising, design and the Internet and most often incorporates digital technology. I study how the virtual invents the social.


ON COLLABORATION

I collaborate with other artists on a regular basis and consider it a way to challenge my own practice. It requires letting go of proprietorship and in an ideal situation, allows the work to become its own machine, driving toward fresh ideas. Collaboration causes problems to solve which is a quality of artistic production that has always drawn my interest. It is political in the sense that it sets up a community that relies on social, organizational models such as democracy, socialism, and even anarchy. It is a type of social sculpture.
